Wouldn't Believe it

If you had told me three years ago that I would one day be preparing to run a half-marathon, I wouldn't have believed you and laughed in your face. Hell, if you told me three weeks ago that same thing, I probably would have laughed harder in your face than three years ago. But here I am; here we are, the lot of us, running a half-marathon in August. To say that we were all, perhaps, peer pressured into running would be half true. Half in that, we heard that some friends were running, thought "Well, that's pretty insane," but then thought more about it. Thought more about the idea of accomplishing a goal, the idea of practicing, the idea of the routine of running. And then we decided.

Yes.

It's pretty simple saying yes. It's pretty simple to fill in information on a website, give over your credit card number and sign up for something. These are the simple things in life.

What isn't simple is the actual doing, the actual process of changing your body to become a successful machine that can run 13.1 miles without a doubt, without any type of fear. And that's what this blog is about: the process and the progress that will be occurring, leading up to the big day: August 1st, 2010. So here we are. Becoming less simple.
